GAME DAY ATTIRE PART 2

Good Monday morning! I'm still on a high that the Arizona Cardinals are now 3-0! Well, since we are on the subject of football, here is my Game Day Attire Part 2. This blog post was recently featured on my friends blog, The Story of My Life. Annie is a sorority sister of mine and her blog is one you don't want to miss. She shares life experiences that most of us are too embarrassed to talk about and doesn't apologize for it. 

Remember when Kristin Cavallari debuted a women’s NFL clothing line? For once we were given the opportunity to not look totally tacky while cheering for our favorite football team. However, the excitement ended quickly as the clothing was never actually available for sale. Hmm... rude Kristin, you're still hot though and we forgive you. So we were left at square one to rummage through local sport stores to find that perfect game time attire. However, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to avoid looking like a total bag, because trust me, we've all seen it happen. Most of the time while I'm cheering (more like boozing) on my favorite team I'm headed to the local bars. 

Therefore, today I've put together a couple of looks that are casual but you can play around with them. The best part of rooting on a team is that you get to play with their team colors. For example, these orange Steve Madden sneakers are shoes I wouldn't normally wear but these are perfect for a Denver Bronco fan. If you cheer for a team with red in their colors, slap on a red lip.  Also, you can fit your team colors within your accessories such as a purse or a chunky necklace. I tend to stray away from team shops or sports stores, and I find my favorite sporting shirts at Junk Food, Old Navy, Target, Victoria Secret, and Chicka-D. 

A few of my fashion don'ts while chugging down vodka waters at the bar while "cheering" on your favorite team are: 

-       Cutting shirts // I'm not against cutting an old shirt (as you can see in Thursdays post) but just be careful because you're not on frat row anymore. Sometimes when you cut the shirt too much you just look juvenile.

-       Team Colors vs. Skin Color // Just because your team is Gold and Maroon doesn't mean you need to wear Gold, because well...it doesn't look great on everyone. 

-       No Jewels on the Shirt // Get you bedazzle on with accessories like a chunky necklace, an arm party or sunglasses.

Watching a game at a bar or at a friends house can be tricky but don’t be afraid to play around with your look. Also, the chances of you having dirty hair from your Friday or Saturday night are high, so make use of it. This is the perfect time to play around with that hairstyle you found on Pinterest months ago.

Thoughts on heels? I’m all for a chunky wedge or ankle bootie, but keep the stilettos for the club. Remember, whatever you wear you want to make sure you can still hang with the boys.

The statement of my blog is that I hope to inspire my readers to mix up their clothes in their closet and to explore their local city. This outfit is a prime example of mixing clothing items laying in your closet. I wore this shirt here and the skirt with the matching top here. The best part of matching co-ords is that they can be worn multiple ways. We spontaneously met my parents for dinner on Saturday night at the Montelucia Resort. I had to get out of the house quickly and somehow pulled this outfit out of my butt. When you have to make quick decisions sometimes you get the best results.

When Brandon and I were taking these photos I kept moving and dancing around so these are the few photos that weren't blurry and washed out. Lesson learned. Next time I'm doubling checking the photos before we hop back in the air conditioned car. Also, these are the few photos that don't show my fat butt. When I tried this skirt on at Nordstrom, it looked great with the matching crop top. However, when I was rushing to leave the house this weekend I didn't notice that the skirt was so puffy, giving me an even bigger butt than I already have. 

Lesson learned--again! That is two lessons in 1 day, whew! I'm exhausted. 

Also, I just wanted to let you guys know that I have been in this awkward stage with my voice on the blog. I want to be real with my readers but also want to be professional and sometimes those two things don't always mix. I hope I make you laugh and don't sound cookie cutter, blah or boring. I want my writing to sound like I'm talking to one of my best friends. So hold on tight and come along for the ride as I try to find myself and how I fit into this blogging world. xxoo 

DON'T BE TARTAN

I'm probably jumping the gun here talking about plaid because the heat is still blazing here in Arizona. However, I do love myself some plaid in the fall and winter. It is a classic pattern that originated in Scotland many years ago. Today, it is worn in many different ways from hair accessories, scarfs, and skirts. To me, the pattern immediately reminds me of  hot chocolate and a chilly winter. However, ever once in awhile when I see a plaid shirt, I get a glimpse of Garth from Wayne's World.  In college a girlfriend and I dressed up as Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World and I still have the plaid shirt I picked up for my costume. I figured that I would use it one day or even tie it around my waist to add a little grudge to an outfit. However you spend your fall this year add a little plaid. She won't let you down and she'll keep you feeling cozy.

Ahhh, I love Denver. The people, the breweries, and the crazy weather are specatcular. Wanna know something funny? I started this blog to become more connected on the internet world however, I find myself pulling back more and more. When we saw Dierks Bentley on Wednesday, I really wanted to enjoy the moment. Therefore, I kept my phone camera away for most of the night and really paid attention to the details. The weather was cloudy and sprinkled on and off, which was a pleasant change from the Arizona heat. We spent the weekend with good friends and I didn't want to take that for granted. Every time we come back from a vacation, I wonder if I really took in the culture and adventure the city had to offer. This trip, I did just that! Brandon and I had so much fun running around the city even though the only cloud in the sky that day seemed to keep following us around. We kept laughing because we couldn't get away from the cloud and in the distance the sky was clear. Whether you have a 'cloud' following you around and you're going through a rough time, enjoy the moment. The sky is always clear in the distance. 

P.S. I'm really excited that I finally packed well this trip. Even though I travel often, I am the worst packer. Normally, I find myself only wearing 1 third of the items in my suitcase. Yet, this trip I stuck with 3 pairs of shoes: workout shoes for the gym or a hike, booties for the concert or going out, and my birks for walking around the city. I worked my clothes around those three pairs of shoes and called it a day! What are your packing tips? Spill! :)

WHAT TO WEAR: COUNTRY CONCERT

About a week or two before a trip I start perusing online to get some inspiration for what to bring and wear. Since we are going to the Dierks Bentley concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater I figured I would have to gather up the perfect gid up. However, with money being tight I needed to find the inspiration within my closet walls instead of the corridors of the mall. So behold, my country concert inspiration. I actually have a denim dress just like this H&M one so I'll be wearing that. Also, these Frye booties are a fun coral color to add a surprise pop. I love the coral because it is a nice change from the common brown boots. Also, you can't go wrong with adding a bandana to your country concert attire. I'm planning on tying the bandana in my hair just like the girl in the Asos photo. This bolo necklace and bucket bag add a touch of southwestern flair to the country outfit. 
Also, since you will probably be dancing and sweating I suggest keeping the makeup simple. I'm going to add a heavy amount of mascara but keeping my lips simple with a light pink gloss. 
Whether you are going to a country concert, bar, or just feeling a little country it is simple to add a bit of cowgirl to your attire. Now giddyy up!

SALES FOR DAYS

You know that blissful feeling when you walk out of the store and you think, "Damn, I just saved some big bucks!"? Well look no further because I have gathered just a few of my favorite sale items right now. Nasty Gal, Nordstrom, & J.Crew are a few of my favorite places to find sale items. No one likes to over spend and anytime I can save some $$$-- I'm all game. However, it is easy to get sucked into a 'good deal' so I came up with a few tricks to make sure that sale item makes sense for you! 

TIPS & TRICKS FOR ROAMING THE SALE RACK

1 // Is it in season? Most retailers have sales for off season items however, are you really going to wear that jacket when winter finally rolls around? If you are going to buy something off season I would stick with classic pieces like a pair of blue jeans and solid colors. 

2 // Can you at least style the clothing or accessory piece two different ways? 

3 // Make sure you watch out for those .99 numbers. Retailers know we tend to spend more when there is a .99 cent at the end of a price tag so be mindful. Also, we tend to purchase an item when we think it's a great deal! Example--Half off the original price of $100, well than $50 isn't that bad? It's still $50 so make sure the item is worth it! 

4 //  I can't stress this tip enough.--Take it off the sale rack & review the item! It is easy to get caught with the cutest item on the sale rack but that doesn't mean it's worth the money. Just because it's a winner on that sale rack doesn't make it a winner in your closet.
